MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cheerleading squad will host its’ annual Little Tigers Cheerleading Camp, complete with an opportunity to perform live at a DWU basketball game, on Saturday, Jan. 30.
The camp which will run from 9 a.m. to noon that day, is open to all children from kindergarten to fifth grade. During that time, campers will learn the ropes from DWU’s head cheerleading coach Jerry Luckett and members of the Tiger squad.
That afternoon, all campers will also have the opportunity to perform a halftime show during DWU’s Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader against Dana College. All campers from kindergarten to second grade will perform during halftime of the women’s game, which begins at 2 p.m., and the campers from third, fourth and fifth grade will perform during halftime of the men’s game, which begins at approximately 4 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $25 per child, and that price includes instruction, snacks, donuts and a camp T-shirt. The campers will also be admitted free to the DWU game that afternoon, but parents will be required to pay admission. Scholarships are available for families in need.
To sign up for the Little Tigers Cheerleading Camp, please log on to the DWU athletic camps Web site and download a registration form. Please mail the fee, with payment, to Luckett by the Jan. 19 registration deadline. All forms postmarked after the deadline will be assessed a $10 late fee.
