MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University cheerleaders will host their annual Little Tiger Cheer Camp Saturday, Jan. 28.
The camp, which runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Wellness Center on the DWU campus, is open to all children from kindergarten to fifth grade. DWU head cheerleading coach Jerry Luckett, along with members of the Tiger cheerleading squad, will teach the campers basic cheer moves and a few cheers.
That same day, campers will perform a halftime show during the Tiger men’s basketball team’s Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup against Doane College. The doubleheader starts with the women’s game at 2 p.m., and the men’s game is scheduled to start around 4 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $20 per child, which includes instruction, snacks and a camp T-shirt. Campers will be admitted free to the DWU games that afternoon, but parents will be required to pay admission. Scholarships are available for families in need.
For more information or to register, contact Luckett at 605-770-2773 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 20.
The halftime performance will be a part of the DWU basketball team’s annual Pack the Palace with Pink game. The basketball teams will be wearing pink T-shirts for warm ups, and T-shirts can be ordered by contacting Sun Gold Trophies in Mitchell. The basketball teams and the Heart & Sole Cancer Walk Committee will be selling raffle tickets for Mitchell Bucks and a Visa gift card. All money raised throughout the day will stay local to help raise money for local cancer patients.
