MITCHELL, S.D. – Thanks to an unusually mild winter and warmer conditions as of late, the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team was hoping to get in a pair of softball games much earlier in the season than Mother Nature usually allows.
However, true to form, Mother Nature had her say. The Tigers were scheduled to play a pair of doubleheaders at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D., Friday and Saturday Feb. 3 and 4, but due to snow and ice in the Black Hills, those games have been canceled and will not be made up.
Dakota Wesleyan’s season opener is now Feb. 24 when it travels to Salina, Kan., for a doubleheader against Kansas Wesleyan University. The Tigers have the opportunity to scrimmage three Great Plains Athletic Conference opponents at the Briar Cliff Indoor Tournament Saturday, Feb. 11, in Sioux City, Iowa.
