MITCHELL, S.D. – More than half of the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team’s 2012 signees are from within the state of South Dakota, and Friday afternoon, head coach Jeremy Tosaya announced that two more Sioux Falls standouts have signed with the Tigers.

Isaac Wheelock-Bouwman and Dan Iverson will both join the DWU men’s soccer program starting this fall. Wheelock-Bouwman comes to DWU from Roosevelt High School and Iverson joins the Tigers after a successful high school career at Washington High School.

Iverson, a 5-foot-8 midfielder, earned two varsity letters for the Warriors and led the team in assists as a senior in 2011. He earned Class AA All-State First Team honors in 2011 and honorable mention accolades as a junior in 2010. Iverson, who has been a member of the honor roll for four years and plans to major in pre-pharmacy, helped the Warriors to an 8-2 record in 2011 and a 7-3 mark in his junior season.

“We’re excited to have Dan join the Tigers in 2012. He’s had a great career at Sioux Falls Washington, and I feel that he has the right skills and attitude to be successful in college,” Tosaya said. “I’m confident that Dan will be a positive influence for the team on the field and in the locker room, and I’m excited to see how he grows with the program these next four years.

“The fact that we’ve attracted six first team all-state selections in this recruiting class says a lot about how we are viewed in the region by high school talent, and Dan is one of those.”

Wheelock-Bouwman lettered twice for the Rough Riders, and helped Roosevelt to a second-place finish at the Class AA state tournament in 2011. The 5-8 defender also played club soccer for the DASC Seekers, and helped them to two state titles. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a Boys’ State participant, and was selected as a Randall Scholar at Dakota Wesleyan.

“Isaac brings an enormous amount of experience to the Wesleyan program between playing for Roosevelt and the Dakota Alliance Seekers,” Tosaya said. “He already has a comfort level with several players that are coming to or are already at Wesleyan.

“He also has a lot to contribute to Dakota Wesleyan as a student as well. I’m real proud of the caliber of students that our soccer program has attracted in this recruiting class, and Isaac’s selection as a Randall Scholar exhibits that. He will help us raise the bar on and off the field for Tiger soccer.”

Iverson and Wheelock-Bouwman bring this year’s recruiting class up to 13 for Tosaya. Nine of those 13 recruits are from within South Dakota, including Zach Bartels (F, Goodwin); Michael Hardwick (F, Pierre); Travis Moodie (MF, Pierre); Tyson Moodie (MF/G, Pierre); Alex Nelson (GK, Sioux Falls); Trevor Schryvers (F, Custer) and Zach Schneider (MF, Sioux Falls). Matthew Hockert (D/MF, Fargo, N.D.); Sterling Hubbard (MF/D, Jamestown, N.D.); Adam Jahnel (Blair, Neb.) and Manny Parvalos (Panama City Beach, Fla.) round out the recruiting class.
