MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team has nearly six months until its 2012 fall camp starts, but the Tigers are already thinking ahead. DWU is taking advantage of some free weekends this spring and playing a handful of scrimmages against opponents of all levels in April.

The Tigers play two NCAA Division II teams, one Canadian Interuniversity Sport team, an amateur squad and three NAIA opponents this spring to help prepare for the 2012 season.

Dakota Wesleyan plays two games Saturday, April 14, in Bismarck, N.D. The Tigers take on the University of Mary – an NCAA DII school – at 11 a.m. before playing the Bismarck Marauders, an amateur team, at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, April 22, the Tigers host Mount Marty College and Morningside College in a pair of games in Mitchell. DWU plays Mount Marty at 9:30 a.m. and Morningside at 12:30 p.m. Both teams are a part of the Great Plains Athletic Conference with Dakota Wesleyan.

DWU wraps up its spring season Saturday, April 28, with a trio of games in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Tigers take on the University of Winnipeg, a CIS school, at 11:30 a.m.; Northwestern College at 1 p.m. and the University of Sioux Falls at 5:30 p.m.

Dakota Wesleyan went 9-9-2 in 2011 and loses three seniors to graduation. The Tigers earned the No. 2 seed in the GPAC postseason tournament and hosted their first-ever conference playoff game. Dakota Wesleyan is hoping a roster full of veteran players, combined with some talented new faces, will lead to even more success this fall.
