MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University track and field team was scheduled to travel to Madison, S.D., Friday afternoon for one last tune-up before the Great Plains Athletic Conference championships.
That meet, the Trojan Invite hosted by Dakota State University, was called off Friday morning due to rain and inclement weather forecasted to be in the area throughout the day. The cancelation leaves the Tigers a week to get ready for the GPAC championships, which run May 4-5 in Lincoln, Neb.
The top eight finishers in each event at the conference championships earn All-GPAC honors. After the GPAC meet, Dakota Wesleyan has one more opportunity to qualify individuals for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. The Tigers travel to the Concordia Twilight on Friday, May 11, in Seward, Neb. The national championships are May 24-26 in Marion, Ind.
