MITCHELL, S.D. – Seven members of the Dakota Wesleyan University cross country team recorded personal bests Saturday at the DWU Invite at Wild Oak Golf Club in Mitchell.
Justin Brueggeman, Jeff Sahli, Mike Claar, Haley Brunke, Skylar Forgey, Nicole Court-Menendez and Heather Banister all ran the best times of the Tiger careers Saturday at their home meet, which included DWU, Iowa Lakes Community College, Midland University, Wayne State University and Mount Marty College.
Brunke paced the Tiger women with a fourth-place finish. She completed the course in 20:03.33. Forgey took 13th in 20:56.33 and Court-Menendez also finished in the top 20 in 21:55.77, good for 20th. Also for DWU, Jamie Geho took 24th in 22:34.63, Kayleen Gupman finished in 23:00.19 and took 27th and Banister was 31st in 23:36.48.
Kaylee Fly of Mount Marty won the women’s race in 19:04.7. The Lancers won the team title and Midland was second.
All of the DWU men finished in the top 25. Brueggeman was the Tigers’ top finisher. He completed the race in 27:59.85 and took 10th. Trace Tjeerdsma took 13th in 28:32.44, Andrew Hernandez finished 14th in 28:55 and Sahli took 18th in 29:32.5. David Elliott took 19th in 29:36.29 and Claar finished the race in 30:31.53 and took 21st.
Jordan Pater of Mount Marty won the men’s race in 25:39.29. The Lancers won the team title and Wayne State was second.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Sioux City, Iowa, for the Briar Cliff Invitational.
