Tiger volleyball falls to Mount Marty

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team dropped a Great Plains Athletic Conference match to Mount Marty College Tuesday night at the Corn Palace in Mitchell. The Lancers won 25-19, 25-21 and 25-20.

The Tigers, who fell to 3-14 overall and 0-4 in the GPAC, played close with the Lancers (3-12, 1-4) each set, but were never able to pull ahead or snag the momentum.

Dani Bird paced the Tiger offense with 19 kills. Sammy Fluck and Elizabeth Mahsem each added six kills for Dakota Wesleyan. Bri Jung had 30 assists and Maggie Stehly paced the defense with 15 digs. Bird also added 12 digs.

Amanda Dirksen led the Lancers with 10 kills. Kate LIngscheit and Lexie Branson each chipped in with six kills. Caitlyn Illg had 25 assists and also led the defense with 10 digs. Dirksen also finished with seven digs for Mount Marty.

Dakota Wesleyan is back in action Wednesday, Sept. 26, when it travels to Madison, S.D., for a nonconference matchup against Dakota State University.
