SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University team lost 3-1 to Dordt College Tuesday night in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders won 25-17, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-10. The Tigers are now 5-24 overall and 1-11 in the GPAC. Dordt, which is receiving votes in the NAIA, is 21-8 overall and 10-2 in the conference.
Sam Sandau led all hitters with 12 kills for Dakota Wesleyan Tuesday. Dani Bird, Rachel Tinklenberg and Elizabeth Mahsem all added 10 kills for the Tigers, who had 50 total kills. Bri Jung had 43 assists and seven digs. Katie Lindow led the defense with 21 digs and Maggie Stehly finished with 16.
Lindsey Floen and Danae Geels each had 10 kills for Dordt, which had 52 total kills. Loy Sarh finished with nine kills. Kayla Gesink had 38 assists and 10 digs and Kayla Broekhuis finished with 10 digs.
Dakota Wesleyan is back at home Saturday, Oct. 27, when it hosts Doane College and Presentation College at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center. The Tigers play Doane College at 2:30 p.m. for their annual parents’ night match, and Presentation at 5 p.m. DWU’s lone senior, Kayla O’Connell, will be honored prior to the Presentation match.
