MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team split a pair of home matches Saturday afternoon at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center on the DWU campus. The Tigers lost 3-0 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match against Doane College, but defeated Presentation College 3-0 in a nonconference match later that night.
Doane, which is ranked No. 19 in the NAIA, defeated Dakota Wesleyan 25-13, 25-14 and 25-19 to improve to 22-8 overall and 9-4 in the conference. Dani Bird paced the Tiger offense with 10 kills in the loss and Sam Sandau finished with seven. Bri Jung had 25 assists and Katie Lindow led the defense with seven digs.
Susan Rollman led all hitters with 13 kills for Doane and Emily Max chipped in with 10. Miranda Wisehart had 36 assists and Karissa Blank finished with 11 digs. Max also had seven block assists.
Later on Saturday, Dakota Wesleyan improved to 6-25 overall with a 3-0 win against Presentation College. The Tigers won 26-24, 25-16 and 25-10. Dakota Wesleyan gave up just 26 kills to the Saints, who are 4-22 overall.
Dakota Wesleyan, which is 1-12 in the GPAC, is home one last time Tuesday, Oct. 30, when it hosts Briar Cliff University at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers wrap up the regular season with road games against Mount Marty College and Hastings College.
