MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team wrapped up the home portion of its 2012 schedule with a 3-0 loss to Briar Cliff Tuesday night at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center.
The Chargers won 25-19, 25-20 and 25-23. In the fourth and final set, the Tigers led 23-21, but Briar Cliff rattled off four straight points to win the set and the match.
Rachel Tinklenberg finished with a team-high 13 kills to pace the Tiger offense. Dani Bird added eight kills and Elizabeth Mahsem finished with seven. Bri Jung had 23 assists and nine digs and Maggie Stehly had a team-high 10 digs. Tinklenberg and Bird each had two solo blocks.
Marissa Van Driel had 13 kills for the Chargers (18-14, 6-9) and Jenni Semprini finished with 12. Erin Frank had 40 assists and Monica Boeding led the defense with 13 digs. Amy Frank also had 10 digs.
The Tigers (6-26, 1-13) finish out the regular season with two road games. Dakota Wesleyan plays Mount Marty College Thursday, Nov. 1, and wrap up the regular season Saturday, Nov. 3, against Hastings College in Hastings, Neb.
