MITCHELL, S.D. – Four members of the Dakota Wesleyan University soccer program earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete status for the 2012 season, it was announced by the NAIA Friday morning.
For the Tiger men’s soccer program Trent Robbins earned the honors and Linsey Peterson, Alex Kuehler and Lindsey Corrin were honored from the Dakota Wesleyan women’s soccer program. This is the first scholar-athlete honor for all four athletes.
Robbins is a junior defender and midfielder from Watertown, S.D. He is a math and business administration double major with a 3.87 GPA. This season, Trent scored three goals and had one assist in 10 games played for the Tigers.
Corrin is a junior defender from Rapid City, S.D. She is an elementary and special education major with a 3.84 GPA. She played in 13 games this season for the Tigers and put up three shots. Kuehler, a forward from Black Hawk, S.D., is a biology major with a 3.63 GPA. She played in seven games and put up two shots in her junior season.
Peterson is a junior midfielder from Pierre, S.D. She has a 3.51 GPA and is majoring in sport, exercise and wellness. Peterson, who earned All-Great Plains Athletic Conference Honorable Mention status this season, scored two goals and had one assist. She had 27 shots, and scored one game-winning goal for DWU this season.
To qualify for Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPAC of 3.5 and have achieved a junior academic status.
