MITCHELL, S.D. – There has been a location change for the Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team’s Great Plains Athletic Conference dual against Morningside College Thursday, school officials announced recently.
Instead of wrestling on the Morningside campus in Sioux City, Iowa, the dual will be wrestled at Sibley High School in nearby Sibley, Iowa. The match will still start at 7 p.m.
Thursday marks the first GPAC dual of the season for the Tigers, who are 2-0 in dual meets so far this season. The Mustangs are No. 5 in the NAIA and the Tigers are currently No. 20 in the latest poll, which was released on Nov. 21.
Three individuals are ranked for Dakota Wesleyan, which last wrestled on Nov. 17 at the Auggie-Brute Adidas Open. Nick Hutcheson is fifth at 165 pounds, Richard Rios is fifth at 133 pounds, Tyler Sarringar is 11th at 174 pounds and Trever DeVestern is 14th at 157 pounds. The Mustangs have nine ranked wrestlers, including Brian Block, who is currently No. 1 in the NAIA at 184 pounds. Other top-five wrestlers include Kory Kistner, No. 2 at 125; Joe Sievert, No. 4 at 174 and Kevin Olson, No. 5 at 141 pounds.
After Thursday’s dual, the Tigers return home Wednesday, Dec. 5, when they host Northern State University in a nonconference dual at the Christen Family Wellness Center on the DWU campus.
