MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf coach Adam Anderson announced a third recruit for the 2013-14 season this week. Thomas Hogg will join the Tiger golf program starting in the fall of 2013.
Hogg is the third recruit for the 2013-14 season and the Tigers’ fourth recruit overall. Brandon native Michael Whitney and Howard High School standout Cal Wiese will also join the team starting in the fall of 2013 and Tommy Anderson will be on the DWU roster starting with the upcoming spring season.
Hogg, an Aberdeen, S.D., native, graduates in May from Aberdeen Central High School. He earned four varsity letters for the Eagles’ golf team and made the trip to the Class AA state golf tournament in each of his four seasons. As a senior, he took second individually and helped the Eagles to a fifth-place team finish. Hogg took 39th as a junior and tied for eighth while helping the team to a third-place finish as a sophomore.
“Thomas has proven himself on several of the biggest stages in junior golf in the state, and we are very excited to have him joining our program after his great high school career,” Anderson said. “I look for Thomas to make an immediate impact, and he should be able to contend for starting time in our varsity lineup right away as a freshman.
“Thomas is also an excellent student in the classroom and has good time management skills, which will serve him well in college athletics.”
The Tiger men are currently sixth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings after two qualifiers in the 2012 fall season. The third and fourth qualifiers of the year will be this spring.
