MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University track and field and cross country coach Pat Belling announced seven recruits for the 2014 track season this week. Three of the recruits will also run cross country in the fall for the Tigers.
Jessica Neises, Kellan Willet and Misty Johnson will compete in both track and cross country at Dakota Wesleyan and Madeline Bauer, Brenna Martin, Morgan Straub and Ariana Arampatzis will compete in track and field for the Tigers starting next season.
Johnson is a transfer from Black Hills State University. Along with competing in cross country in the fall, the Philip, S.D., native, will compete in the middle and long distance events come track season. Neises will be a freshman for the Tiger cross country team this fall. The Madison, S.D., native will also compete in middle distance and hurdle events at Dakota Wesleyan. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Willet comes to DWU from Malcolm High School in Lincoln, Neb. He will run cross country and compete in distance events. He qualified for the state meet in multiple events throughout high school, and is an academic all-state selection in track and cross country.
Arampatzis will compete in multiple events for the Tiger track team. The Aberdeen, S.D., native will run hurdles and compete in jumps and multi-events at DWU. She qualified for the Class AA state meet multiple times for Aberdeen Central High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. Bauer, a native of Wall, S.D., will compete in in the pole vault for the Tigers.
Martin comes to Dakota Wesleyan from Sully Buttes High School. The Onida, S.D., native will compete in throwing events for the Tigers. Straub, a Deadwood, S.D., native, will compete in sprints. She competed in the 100- and 200-meter dashes for Lead-Deadwood High School.
Dakota Wesleyans opens its 2013 outdoor season March 29-30 at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb.
