DWU softball pushed back, baseball adds games

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team has pushed back its Great Plains Athletic Conference opener again, but the Tiger baseball game is adding games to its schedule this week, it was announced Tuesday morning.

The DWU softball team was slated to play Northwestern College Tuesday, March 26 in Orange City, Iowa, but due to field conditions, that game has been pushed back to Tuesday, April 2 at 5 p.m. in Orange City. The Tigers (0-12) haven’t played since taking on Occidental College March 11 in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Tiger baseball team – which hasn’t seen the field since March 15 – has added a handful of games to its schedule to make up for canceling so many games this spring. Dakota Wesleyan (10-10) travels to Sioux Falls, S.D., on Wednesday, March 27, for one nine-inning, nonconference game against Augustana College. That game will be played at 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers are hosting Briar Cliff University in their GPAC opener as scheduled at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, and Dakota Wesleyan has added a nonconference doubleheader against Presentation College at noon on Friday, March 29. DWU is scheduled to travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on Morningside College in a GPAC doubleheader Saturday, March 29, and the Tigers added another doubleheader Monday, April 1, against Valley City State University. DWU was scheduled to play a pair of doubleheaders against VCSU this past weekend, but they were pushed back due to cold temperatures. The April 1 doubleheader is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. All home games will be played at Drake Field.
