MITCHELL, S.D. – Four members of the Dakota Wesleyan University basketball programs and one member of the Tiger wrestling program earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, it was announced recently by the NAIA.
Tiger women’s basketball players Amanda Hart, Elizabeth Lamb and Brittany Hills, men’s basketball player James O’Halloran and wrestler Tyler Sarringar all earned scholar-athlete accolades in 2012-13. The basketball honors were announced Monday by the NAIA and the wrestling honors were announced at the national wrestling tournament in early March.
O’Halloran is a junior from Dakota City, Neb. The 6-foot-1 guard is a criminal justice major with a 3.56 GPA.
Hart, a 5-8 guard from Alexandria, S.D., is a sports management and journalism double major with a 3.67 GPA. She earned All-Great Plains Athletic Conference Second Team honors earlier this season, and finished the season near the top of the league and the nation in 3-pointers made and threes per game.
Lamb, a senior accounting and criminal justice double major, has a 3.93 GPA in her final year at Dakota Wesleyan. The 5-7 guard from Onida, S.D., earned All-GPAC Honorable Mention honors a few weeks ago. Hills, a 5-9 guard from Summit, S.D., is a senior elementary education major with a 3.72 GPA.
Sarringar, a junior 174-pound wrestler from Pierre, S.D., is an athletic training major with a 3.96 GPA. He qualified for the national tournament for the third straight year this season and earned All-GPAC Honorable Mention honors earlier this spring.
