MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University football team is keeping busy this offseason, and head coach Ross Cimpl announced several events to wrap up the Tigers’ spring season and to help raise money for the football program.
The Tigers – who are in their third week of spring practice – will hold their annual spring scrimmage at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. The scrimmage marks the end of Dakota Wesleyan’s spring ball program, and allows the campus, the public and the Tigers to get a sneak peak of at least part of the 2013 DWU football team. The scrimmage will be held at the practice field on the Dakota Wesleyan campus.
For the second year in a row, the Tigers will host a dunk and three-point shooting contest to help raise money for the DWU football program. The dunk contest – which will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center on the DWU campus – at is open to the first 15 paid entries and costs $100 per participant, and the three-point contest is open to the first 30 paid entries and is also $100 per participant. Anyone can participate, and entrants are encouraged to find a sponsor to pay the entry fee.
Everyone is welcome to attend the dunk and three-point contest. The winner of each contest gets a $150 gift card and second place wins an iPod shuffle. There will also be a raffle at the contest, and prizes include a flat screen TV, an iPod shuffle, gift cards and more. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
