MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer coach Jeremy Tosaya announced his ninth recruit for the 2013 season recently when Kenny Mattson signed to join the Tiger soccer program this fall.
Mattson comes to Dakota Wesleyan from Brandon, S.D., where he played four years of varsity soccer at Brandon Valley High School. He scored 21 goals in his career and was named to the Elite 11 team by soccer605.com and earned Class AA All-State honors.
Mattson, a 5-foot-7 midfielder, also played for the Dakota Alliance SC Black club team, and was part of the 2012 state cup championship team.
Mattson, who plans to major in business finance and Spanish, is a member of the National Honor Society.
“I’ve had the privilege to work with Kenny for a couple of years now, and he is a good soccer player and a great young man,” Tosaya said. “He will have no problem embodying the core values of our program and our university. Kenny will add a lot to the pace of our team, and I look forward to how he will add to the competition for the winger’s position.”
Mattson is the fourth signee from South Dakota to join the Tiger men this offseason. Tosaya has also signed three players from Nebraska and two from Minnesota.
