SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University track and field team recorded seven top-five finishes and six times that are in the top-10 in DWU track and field history over the weekend at the Sioux City Relays in Sioux City, Iowa.
Freshman Hailey Brunke paced the Tigers with a second-place finish in the 10,000-meter run. She finished the race in 40:17.46 – the second-best time in school outdoor history. Katie Johnson recorded a trio of top-10 finishes for the DWU women, including a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 39-feet-1.75 inches. She also took sixth in the javelin with a mark of 113-3 and took 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 106-1 – the fifth-best mark in school history.
Lindsey Sanftner took ninth in the triple jump and finished with the ninth-best mark in school outdoor history with a leap of 33-4. She also took 12th in the long jump with a mark of 15-5.5. Teammate Jessie Pederson took ninth in the long jump (15-11) and 11th in the triple jump (33-1.25) and Abby Fossum also took 15th in the triple jump (31-7.5). Skylar Forgey recorded the seventh-best time in DWU outdoor track history in the 1,500-meter run and took 28th with a time of 5:18.96. She also took 12th in the 800 with a time of 2:30.67.
LaShawn Medicine Horn finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5-0.25. MaKenzie Hageman finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.84 seconds. Jamie Geho took seventh in the 5,000-meter run in 21:40.29 – the 10th-best time in school history. Heather Banister also recorded a top-10 finish. She took 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 14:52.91.
