MITCHELL, S.D. – The school year just started, but things are already moving quickly for the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team.
This week, first-year head coach Matt Wilber announced the Tigers open the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game against South Dakota State University. Dakota Wesleyan, which opens its home season against Trinity Bible College on Nov. 4, kicks off the new year against the Jackrabbits on Friday, Nov. 1, at Frost Arena in Brookings. The game will be Friday night, although a time is yet to be determined.
Tickets for the exhibition go on sale Monday, Oct. 21, and can be purchased online at www.jackrabbittickets.com or by calling 1-866-GoJacks from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets will be $12 for adults and $6 for children in kindergarten through 12th grades.
The Tigers are also hosting a golf tournament this Saturday, Aug. 31. There is still room available at the four-person scramble, which starts with a noon shotgun start at Wild Oak Golf Course. The cost is $50 per person, and that includes green fees, cart fees and a post-tournament meal. Mulligans are available for $5, and other challenges will be set up throughout the course. There will be pin prizes on every hole, and DWU basketball gear will be given out to the championship flight.
Current and former Tiger men’s basketball players, along with Wilber and the current Tiger coaches, will be in attendance. Contact Wilber at 605-995-2875 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register.
