SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team dropped a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference games on Friday to Dordt College on Friday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
In Game One, Dordt tallied two runs in the bottom of the first, however the Tigers made it a one-run ballgame after recording a run in the top of the third. Dordt answered with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and another in the sixth to defeat DWU 6-1.
Melysia Ortega (West Covina, Calif.) went 2-for-2 in the loss, while senior Elise Sutherland (Stansbury, Utah) added a double. Sierra Haage (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was tagged with the loss after tossing four innings, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out a batter.
After putting up four runs in the bottom of the first, Dordt scampered to victory in Game Two, 7-2. Paige Kinley (Worthington, Minn.) went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Alyssa Garcia (L.A. Verne, Calif.) tallied a double.
The Tigers (10-21, 0-2 GPAC) head south for a GPAC battle with Hastings College at 1 p.m. Sunday in Hastings, Neb.
