DWU volleyball to host summer camps

MITCHELL, S.D. – Head coach Eric Viney and the Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team are hosting a trio of camps for a variety of age groups this summer.

The Tigers are hosting a youth camp, an individual high school skills camp and a team camp. The youth camp is open to athletes entering grades three through eight and runs June 4-5 at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center on the DWU campus. The cost is $50, and runs from 2-5 p.m. each day. The youth camp is designed to help young volleyball players learn skills and fundamentals, as well as the rules of volleyball.

The high school skills camp runs Jun 4-6 and is open to volleyball players entering the ninth through 12^th grades. The cost is $75, and runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day at the Wellness Center on the DWU campus. The high school camp gives individuals the opportunity to get training at college-level intensity. The camp will focus on the fundamental skills of the game and will also teach advanced strategy. The high school camp is limited to 70 athletes.

The team camp runs June 6-9 on the DWU campus and costs $150 per resident athlete – which includes meals and a dorm room – or $75 for commuters with no dorm or meals. Commuter athletes can purchase meals for $25 for the length of the camp. There will be three sessions each day of the came starting at 8:30 a.m. and running until around 9 p.m. each day. The team camp gives high school teams the opportunity to practice together in a collegiate atmosphere. Practices include advanced systems, and tournament play will be provided each day. There is a maximum of eight teams at the team camp.
