The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is Kynedi Cheeseman, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Monday.
After two wins over the weekend in Winfield, Kan., Cheeseman leads the team in points per game with 15.8 points and in assists with 4.6 assists per game.
In the first game against Southwestern University, the Alexandria, S.D., native scored a game high 17 points and snagged four rebounds. She finished the game 6-of-12 shooting from the field and finished a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The next day, the Tigers took on No. 16 Friends University and scored at least 100 points for the third time this season as they cruised to victory, 100-70.
For the second-straight day, Cheeseman finished as the game’s leading scorer and set a career high with 29 points and tallied 10 assists to record a double-double. She finished 11-of-15 from the field and 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
She currently ranks 27th in the NAIA in total assists with 23 on the season and ranks 31st in assists per game with 4.6.
The Tigers begin Great Plains Athletic Conference play against Dordt College at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
