The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is Lorissa Loeppky, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Wednesday.
The senior pitcher took the mound against the College of Saint Mary on April 29 in her final home games of her career. In Game One, Loeppky pitched seven innings as she struck out six batters and allowed seven hits with no earned runs. She went 1-for-2 at the plate as the Tigers won, 3-1.
In Game Two, she finished 1-for-4 with a critical hit to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning as DWU came back to win, 5-4 in extra innings.
On the season, Loeppky is batting .286 with 30 hits, 10 RBIs and 10 runs. As a pitcher she has 74 strikeouts in 113 and one-third innings pitched.
The Tigers take on Concordia University in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament at 12 p.m. Friday in Hastings, Neb.
