The Dakota Wesleyan University Tiger Athlete of the Week is Makaela Karst, it was announced by the DWU athletic department Monday.
Karst tallied 16 points in the first game of the NAIA Classic against Dakota State University. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. DWU went on to defeat Dakota State 106-63 on Saturday. On Sunday, Karst notched a career-high 19 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the 3-point line and helped guide the Tigers to a 91-49 victory over Presentation College.
The junior from Plankinton, S.D., is averaging 15.3 points per game which is second on the team. She also has tallied a 50 percent field-goal percentage and is 5-of-12 from the 3-point line. From the free throw line, Karst is 11-of-12 for 91.7 percent.
DWU will be on the road to battle NCAA Division I opponent Iowa University at 7:00 p.m. tommorow in Iowa City, Iowa.
