DWU basketball to host 8th annual DWU/Culvers Classic

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University athletic department is excited to announce the teams that will be competing in the eighth annual DWU/Culvers Classic on Feb. 10 and 11 at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D.

 For the second year, the classic will open with four girls' high school basketball games on Friday night Feb. 10. At 4 p.m. Canistota will take on Burke/South Central, followed by Bridgewater-Emery and Parkston at 5:30 p.m. The final two games of the night will feature Ethan and Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 7 p.m. and Hanson and Pine Ridge at 8:30 p.m.

 The boy's portion will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 11 and games will follow one hour and 30 minutes after. The teams participating in this year's DWU/Culvers Classic include nine Class B schools and seven Class A schools. Teams are listed in no particular order: Chester Area, Corsica-Stickney, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Sully Buttes, White River, Chamberlain, Pine Ridge, Dell Rapids, Langford Area, St. Thomas More, Aberdeen Roncalli, Bridgewater-Emery, De Smet, Irene-Wakonda and Sioux Falls Christian.

 "We are extremely excited to be hosting the 8th annual DWU/Culvers Classic," said Jon Hart director of athletics at DWU. "We wouldn't be able to do this without the help of our generous sponsors and supporting communities. These two days are going to feature some outstanding matchups and some of the best teams and players in the state."

 Pairings will be announced at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 on the Coaches' Show with Tim Smith on 105.9 FM KMIT. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at the Corn Palace Box Office. Courtside and reserved seating will be 20 dollars each day, while tickets for the games on Friday will be 10 dollars for adults and five dollars for students and children 10 and under get in free. Ticket prices for Saturday are 12 dollars for adults, five dollars for students and children 10 and under get in free.
