Eagle, Neb. – Russell Pick (Kimball, S.D.) led the way as he brought home a first-place finish as the Dakota Wesleyan University men's golf team competed at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Spring Preview Tournament Wednesday and Thursday at the Woodland Hills Golf Club in Eagle, Neb.
Pick carded a 74 in the first round and a 68 in the second round to finish with a two-day total of 142. On hole two, Pick sank a shot from 226 yards away, good for a double eagle. The tournament victory was the first collegiate win for Pick.
Tying for 23rd was sophomore Connor Preston (Aberdeen, S.D.), who finished with a 154, while Cade Carpenter (Mitchell, S.D.) tied for 41st after carding a 162. Justice Morrison (Norris, S.D.) tied for 65th with a two-day total of 173, as Jayden Engels (Watertown, S.D.) finished in 72nd with a total of 178.
The DWU men's golf team competes at the Morningside Invite on April 18 and 19 at the Whispering Creek Golf Course and Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.
