MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team battled Briar Cliff University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup and was shutout, 4-0 Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
Neither team scored a goal until the Chargers (10-4-1, 8-1 GPAC) did so in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, BCU doubled its' lead with another goal. With five minutes to play until halftime, the Chargers tacked on another goal to hold a 3-0 lead at the break.
Just seven minutes into the second half, BCU added its' fourth goal of the night. The Tigers (2-9-3, 1-7-1 GPAC) were held scoreless on the night as they tallied just seven shot in the game.
DWU finished with five corner kicks to four by BCU, while the Tigers notched three saves to two the Chargers.
DWU heads south to take on Doane University at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday in Crete, Neb.
