TIGER MEN’S GOLF BATTLED A TOUGH FIELD IN NEBRASKA TO OPEN SPRING SEASON

Lincoln, Neb. – Dakota Wesleyan men's golf was amongst a stiff field in their first meet of the spring season at the Doane Spring Invite. Peyton Bettcher led the way for DWU with a two-round total of 156 tying him for 43rd place.

How It Happened

Bettcher had a solid day one, recording a 79 on his score card scribing only four bogey shots and a pair of double-bogey shots. On day two, he was able to cut his strokes to only five above par grabbing a birdie on his first hole of the day and six bogey shots. Cavanaugh cleaned up his game on day two, dropping his score by six strokes from day one. Cavanaugh was able to pick up a pair of birdie shots while increasing his par shots from day one as well. Dohrer also cleaned up his second round of the spring season, cutting four strokes from his game. After shooting an 86 in round one on Friday, Van Beek shot a 79 on day two, cutting out all double- and triple-bogey shots. Larson improved his game by six shots on day two, hitting many par shots and keeping his bogey and double-bogey shots to a minimum.

 

Pick's Thoughts

"It was a tough couple days for the guys as they tried adjusting to playing outside again. We lacked confidence and commitment with our shots which led to more mistakes than we'd like to see. However, I am happy with how most of the guys responded on day two. I expect the guys to improve as the spring season progresses."

Tiger men's golf is back in action on April 3-4 when they make the short trip west. DWU men's golf will travel to Rapid City, S.D. to compete in the Hardrocker Invitational hosted by South Dakota School of Mines.
