SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Dakota Wesleyan Men's and Women's Golf each faced three opponents in match play as the spring golf season continues.

The men's team began its rounds with a matchup against Dordt, where the Defenders would win all five head-to-head matchups. Ryan Flannery and Dakota Munger would have the best performances, both finishing one-up, but would both fall just shy of their opponents. Munger would rebound in the next matchup against the hosting Briar Cliff Chargers, finishing four-and-three over his second opponent, while Jack Olson was able to secure a one-up victory after landing an eagle on the sixth hole of the 18-hole course. Peyton Bettcher would finish a stroke shy of his opponent while Flannery and Will Jarding posted respectable efforts, but the team score would end up favoring the Chargers, 3-2. In the team's final matchup against Midland, Flannery would be the lone matchup won by the Tigers, as he was able to hold steady in his performance, while Munger neared a second win of the event, falling just shy of his opponent.

The women would compete with four athletes on the roster, ending two matchups with ties as two Tigers would secure wins in the first two rounds, but half points would be awarded to full rosters afterwards. The first matchup saw DWU face Hastings, where Allison Meyerink posted two birdies to finish four-and-three over her opponent, and Dakotah Larson won her matchup five-and-four with a steady performance that included seven pars on 14 played holes. In the team's second matchup against the Chargers, Meyerink dominated her matchup with an eight-and-seven finish with 10 consecutive pars, and she would be joined this time by Sara Sudenga, who recorded a birdie on the 18th hole en route to a three-and-two win over her opponent. The women's team grabbed its first win on the day as Meyerink won her third matchup with another impressive scoreline of eight-and-six, while Sudenga and Larson both recorded their second matchup wins of the event, finishing with wins of two-and-one and five-and-three over their opponents, respectively.

Both Men's and Women's Golf will be back in action next week, along with an upcoming home meet on April 12th through the 13th. See the full 2025-26 schedule here.
