MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team fell in a hard fought Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup to Northwestern College by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday night in Mitchell.
The Red Raiders (9-4-2, 5-1-2 GPAC) came out of the gate hot offensively getting scoring chances and putting pressure on the DWU defense. Northwestern scored the first goal of the match in the 52nd minute, but the Tigers responded quickly in the 55th minute on a goal from Gage Pemberton (Overland Park, Kan.) as he received a beautiful feed from Cesar Tabares (Phoenix, Ariz.) to even the match at 1-1.
Both teams traded offensive chances late in the second half, but it was the Red Raiders who scored a goal in the 75th minute to give Northwestern the victory.
