DWU, WARRIORS READY TO SQUARE OFF ON SATURDAY IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team readies for another non-conference match, this time versus Waldorf University at 5:30 p.m. in Forest City, Iowa. Dakota Wesleyan fell versus in-state foe Mount Marty University on Wednesday in Yankton, S. D.

About the Tigers

  • Junior forward Cesar Requena (Lima, Peru) leads the Tigers in shooting percentage with a .500 shooting percentage along with two goals in five starts in 2021.
  • As a unit, the Dakota Wesleyan offensive attack holds a .600 shot-on-goal percentage with 21 shots on goal.
  • Garrett Shanley (Eagan, Minn.) made his sixth-straight start for Dakota Wesleyan at the left back position this season on Wednesday and has appeared in a total of 12 matches throughout his Tiger career.

About the Warriors

  • Waldorf enters Saturday's contest with a 2-2-1 overall record including a 3-1 upset home victory over No. 21 Briar Cliff University.
  • Junior midfielder Antonio Coutinho leads the WU attack after receiving All-Conference honors during the 2020 campaign.
  • Second-year head coach Michael Ritterbeck took over the Warrior program in November of 2020 serving as the interim coach for the final four matches of last season.  

Series History (Waldorf University)

  • Both programs last met during the spring portion of the 2020 season and WU secured the 2-1 road victory from Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell, S.D.
  • Waldorf holds the advantage over the Tigers with an overall record of 7-2-0 in recent history.  
  • DWU knocked off Waldorf in back-to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014 as Dakota Wesleyan outscored WU by a combined 7-0 in such contests.
