DAKOTA WESLEYAN BATTLES MORNINGSIDE ON SATURDAY IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE

Under first-year head coach Brady Van Holland, the Dakota Wesleyan University men's soccer team concludes the 2021 regular season versus conference foe Morningside University at 8 p.m. on Saturday from Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa.

About the Tigers

  • The Tigers enter Saturday's match coming off a 1-1 draw in double overtime against University of Jamestown on Wednesday. Benjamin Lazcano became the seventh DWU offensive player to score a goal this season as he found the back of the net in the 83rd minute.
  • Junior goalkeeper Hunter Birozy, who now holds 78 saves on the season, collected six saves on Wednesday helping the Blue and Gray preserve the 1-1 draw.
  • Birozy, a native of Norco, Calif., has also secured a pair of shutout performances this season and has made 19 career starts at the netminder position for Dakota Wesleyan.
  • DWU is averaging 9.5 shot attemtps per conference game while Rafael Calderon and Cesar Requena continue to pace the Tigers in shots on goal at 19 and eight, respectively.

  • The Mustangs sustain a 10-6-0 overall record and a 7-3-0 mark in Great Plains Athletic Conference action under experienced head coach Tom Maxon, who enters his 21st season on the sideline.
  • Senior midfielder Moritz Lusch has fueled the Morningside offensive attack with 11 goals and eight assists in 15 starts on the season.
  • Six different MOR attackers have scored 4-or-more goals in 2021 while junior netminder Bjarne Huth holds an 8-5-0 record with 58 saves.
