YORK, Neb. — Dakota Wesleyan Men's Soccer fell to the York Panthers down in Nebraska in a weekend competition.
The Tigers would have a strong defensive showing through the first half of the contest, with Neil Ennis playing a full 90 minutes on the pitch, while veteran defender Colin Burke would hold the backline and put up a shot on goal in the process. Zackary Stephens would make two saves throughout the match, and even with York later capitalizing on offensive opportunities, Stephens still had a solid day in the goal. The Panthers would register the first goal of the game in the 36th minute on an unassisted attempt. The Tigers would get in their own attempts at scoring from Michael Kelly, Lukas Adamhuber, and David Lennon in the first half, but would not be able to connect, as they would trail 0-1 heading into halftime.
Dakota Wesleyan would have limited offensive opportunities in the second half and would only post two more shots during the contest in what would become a defensive battle as the game continued. Burke's previously mentioned attempt and Ty Ferguson's shot on goal would be solid looks at converting on good field positioning, but the York defense would hold strong to hold the Tigers scoreless. The Panthers would find another seam in the DWU defense in the 72nd minute to pull ahead by two goals, and while Dakota Wesleyan would muster a few final scoring looks, they would not be able to connect, and would fall 0-2.
DWU Men's Soccer will be back in action at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex on Friday, September 12th, as they take on the South Dakota School of Mines. See the entire 2025 schedule here.
