ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Dakota Wesleyan Men's Soccer faced the Northwestern Red Raiders in a weekday GPAC matchup.
The Red Raiders got an early advantage in the match due to a set of early Tiger fouls that kept the ball on DWU's side of the field. An initial shot went wide left, but the Northwestern pressure gave them opportunities on offense. They capitalized on the momentum in the 13th minute on an assisted goal that brought the score to a 1-0 Northwestern lead that would not budge for the remainder of the contest. The DWU defense kept the Red Raiders out of the net for the rest of the match, with Colin Burke, Neil Ennis, and David Lennon recording near-full matches and each recording at least a shot to the offensive effort. The backline and goalkeeper Zackary Stephens only gave up one shot on the goal.
The second half saw the same, slower pace that the first half did, but the Tigers stepped up their offensive presence as the game continued. Ennis would lead the team in shots with two, while midfielders Lukas Adamhuber and Luis Waeschle would each put up a shot-on-goal. The Tigers were outshot by the Red Raiders 11-8, with the Northwestern goalkeeper registering four saves on all of DWU's attempts to hold them scoreless. Late advances on the goal by the Tigers were held at bay to keep the score at 1-0 at the end of the contest.
DWU Men's Soccer will be back in action against Doane on October 4th at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex. See the full 2025 schedule here.
