SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan University track and field teams continued the 2016 season at the Sioux City Relays Friday and Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tigers continue to see strong performances from freshman thrower Ben Hammer (Dell Rapids, S.D.), who hit the qualifying standard in a second event for the NAIA National Championships. Hammer finished third in the shot put with a toss of 15.60 meters to qualify for nationals.

Hammer posted a second-straight strong performance in the discus, an event he qualified for nationals in earlier this season. He took fourth place Saturday with a throw of 48.08 meters.

Senior Daniel Porter (Plattsmouth, Neb.) had the second-best leap in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.05 meters. Porter also had a 15th place showing in the long jump with a distance of 5.92 meters.

On the women's side, freshman Abigail Collingham (Polk, Neb.) broke her own school record in the pole vault with a high of 3.19 meters. The height was good enough for seventh place.

The Tigers continue the spring season at the Red Raider Open hosted by Northwestern College next weekend in Sioux City, Iowa.
