Des Moines, Iowa - The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in their final regular season meet, Grand View Viking Classic, at Grand View University. There were a lot of first events for the track sprinters.
Track Events:
Sprints-
- Tampa Scott (Sr.) ran in his first college 100m. He ran a 12.2 second run.
- Barrett Nielsen (Jr.) competed in the 110m and 400m hurdles. In the 110m hurdles he ran a time of 15.68 seconds. Staying consistent. In the 400m hurdles he ran a time fo 57.22 seconds. He placed 4th in the 110m hurdles and 3rd in the 400m hurdles.
- Sean DeBlieck (Fr.) ran in the 100m. He ran a 11.1 second run. The freshman was close to breaking is PR of 11.09 seconds.
- Trevor Sladky (Fr.) ran in his first college 100m. He ran a 11.76 second run.
- Ian Chrisler (Fr.) ran in the 400m and 200m race. He ran a lifetime a 53.83 seconds in the 400. In the 200m he ran a 23.40 second run.
- Gage Hohn (Fr.) competed in the 400m, he ran a 54.78 second run.
Distance-
- Gage Dietterle (So.) had a good day on the track as he ran a time of 4:40 minutes in the 1500m race.
- Zach Robinson (Fr.) ran in his 2nd ever 1500m run and he PR with a 5:00 minute run. The freshman continues to grow.
Relays-
- The Tigers took part in the 4x100m sprint relay. Trevor Sladky was the lead, second leg was Mikey Hart, who handed off to the third leg Sean DeBlieck, and gave it off to the anchor Tampa Scott. The team ran a 44.1 second time.
Field Events:
Jumps-
- Quenton Walls (So.) competed in the long and triple jump. He had a good day in long as he carries his momentum by finding consistency in the 6.5 meters range. His best long jump of the day was 6.59m. In triple he PR'd multiple times. His best mark was 13.60m. In both jump events he placed 3rd overall.
- Sean DeBlieck (Fr.) started to find his stride in the jumps as he PR multiple times. His best of the day was 6.14m.
Throws-
- Christian Hanna (Sr.) the senior competed in the shot put, discus, and hammer throws. In the shot he threw an outdoor PR of 11.60m mark. In discus, Hanna threw 32.87m. In the hammer he launched a 31.93m throw.
- Cole Holden (Jr.) won the javelin event. His best mark on the grassy runway was 47.01m
- Max Raab (Jr.) competed in javelin, his best mark of the day was 46.35m. He finsihed in 2nd overall.
- Ethan Watson (Fr.) took part in shot and discus. In shot put the freshman threw a 15.37m throw, placing 2nd overall in the meet. In discus Watson placed in 9th and threw a 39.81m throw.
Tigers Looking Ahead-
The Grand View Viking Classic wraps up the regular season for the DWU track and field tigers. They now wait to hear who qualifies for conference with their hard earned marks. For those who qualify they will head to Hastings, Nebraska to compete at the GPAC Outdoor Championships. More info will be provided on the meet preview and on the DWU app.
