YANKTON, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Softball faced the Mount Marty Lancers in what counted as a non-conference contest.
The Tigers opened the top of the first with a flurry of offense from the middle of the lineup, finding its rhythm early. DWU saw fielder's choice hits from both Jaycee Tebay and Lydia Yost to get two runs across the plate, while Elle Feser and Jordyn Blogg popped up two fly balls to add more runs to the board, taking an initial 4-0 lead. Mount Marty was able to close the gap with two runs of their own, but DWU starting pitcher Keirstyn Krcil was able to lock down the Lancers through the middle portion of the contest, ending the day with five strikeouts against 26 batters faced, along with the earned win on the mound. Neither team would score again until the bottom of the fifth, when MMU recorded an inside-the-park home run to bring the score to 4-3, but Avery Perkins was able to respond in the top of the sixth following a two-RBI home run into center field, extending DWU's lead to 6-3. Feser added her second RBI of the day in the top of the seventh after sending a line drive into left field, leaving the final score at 7-3 in favor of DWU. With the win, the Tigers move to 7-4 on the season.
DWU Softball will be back in action this weekend, starting on February 27th, as the team will compete at the ASB Sports Complex down in Sioux Center, Iowa. See the full 2026 schedule here.
