MITCHELL, S.D. — No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan Women's Basketball faced the Midland Warriors in the team's third GPAC contest of the 2025-26 season.
The Tigers put up 37 points in the first period to jump out to a 37-12 lead through 10 minutes of play, initially led by Emma Yost. Yost put up eight of her 11 total points in the first period and ended up contributing eight rebounds in total, but the rest of the lineup was quick to chime in to add to the scoring effort. Five Tigers in total ended up scoring a double-digit amount of points, and they found a lot of production in the paint from Avery Orth. The sophomore from Alpena, South Dakota, put up a career-high 20 points on 8-10 (80%) shooting from the field while also posting eight rebounds, which tied for the team lead with Yost. Taliyah Hayes was Dakota Wesleyan's second-highest scorer with a season-high mark of 14 points alongside four assists, three boards, and three steals. The Tigers put up 20 points in the second to take a 57-24 lead at the half over the Warriors.
The starting lineup had a good showing for Dakota Wesleyan on top of the big performances off the bench, with Rylee Rosenquist posting 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals, alongside Avery Broughton, who matched Yost's 11 total points while grabbing five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Shalayne Nagel had nine points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks in a well-rounded performance, while Jaida Young rounded out the starters with six points and five boards of her own. The offense started the second half at a slower pace, but the Tigers picked up the pace in the fourth period, scoring 22 points while limiting the Warriors to just seven points in the final 10 minutes of play. Dakota Wesleyan ended up winning the contest, 93-45, while outshooting Midland from the field, 49.3% to 28.3%. The Tigers also outrebounded the Warriors 50-23 overall.
