Tigers set to welcome Bruins in first home match of the season

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan University women's soccer team is set to officially open the 2021 campaign by hosting non-conference foe Bellevue University at 5 p.m. on Wednesday from the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell, S.D. Dakota Wesleyan is coming off back-to-back exhibition matches versus Iowa Lakes Community College and University of Sioux Falls to begin the 2021 campaign. 

 About the Tigers

  • DWU finished the 2020 season with an overall record of 9-8-0, including a 7-5-0 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. For the first time since 2014, head coach Clayson Glasgow and the Tigers qualified for the GPAC playoffs.
  • Senior forward Alondra Partida (Salinas, Calif.) tallied six goals and three assists on 44 shot attempts in 17 appearances last year. 
  • Fellow senior, and Tiger midfielder Josephine Bardsley (Tea, S.D.) earned All-GPAC First Team Accolades in 2020 following seven goals and six assists on 47 shot attempts last fall.

About the Bruins  

  • The Bruins opened the 2021 campaign with a 3-2 victory over Northwestern College on Saturday in Bellevue, Neb. During the 2020 season, Bellevue finished the year with a 12-4-0 overall record.  
  • Midfielder Bruna Bielski scored the go-ahead goal for BU in the 71st minute on Saturday. Bielski scored seven goals and four assists on 44 shot attempts in 16 appearances a season ago.
  • Fellow midfielder Marilia Lages returns for her senior campaign after leading BU in goals and assists with 10 and four, respectively.
