FREMONT, Neb. — Dakota Wesleyan Women's Soccer faced the Midland Warriors in a Saturday night GPAC matchup.
The Tigers dominated the early portions of the game on offense, getting multiple attempts on the net in the first third of the contest. Hannah Petrucci and Annika Enevoldsen led the way for the DWU offense, with both players attempting seven shots each throughout the match. Overall, the Tigers ended up outshooting the Warriors 23-8, recording 11 shots in the first half and 12 in the second. The limited opportunities for Midland were thanks to the efforts of the defense, which saw reigning GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week Abigail Colgrove record three saves on all of the Warriors' attempts on the net. Jacque Madrid and Abigail Determan anchored the backline in full 90-minute efforts alongside Meghan Hutchison and Molly Colgrove, who saw some offensive opportunities thanks to field position. The defense held the Warriors scoreless, but the Tigers could not find a goal in the first half, making the score 0-0 at halftime.
Dakota Wesleyan continued to push the pace into the second half with the offensive attack spearheaded by Petrucci and Enevoldsen. Even with a handful of opportunities, the Tigers still could not get a score on the board until close to the end of the contest. In the 82nd minute, however, Mikayla Adams connected on a shot with the assist from Hutchison to take a 1-0 lead. Midland would put together a final offensive push, but the Tiger defense held strong to get possession back in the final few minutes of the contest. Petrucci would score the second goal of the game in the 88th minute to solidify the 2-0 win for Dakota Wesleyan. She currently leads the DWU lineup with five goals on the season.
DWU Women's Soccer will be back in action against the Waldorf Warriors down in Iowa on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:30 PM. See the full 2025 schedule here.
