DAKOTA WESLEYAN VOLLEYBALL SET FOR LABOR DAY CLASSIC

Mitchell, S.D. – RV Dakota Wesleyan volleyball is back in action this weekend as they head to the Labor Day Classic in Bellevue, Nebraska. The tournament will be played over three days, starting tomorrow. The Tigers take on No. 18 Ottawa at 5 p.m.. DWU will play two matches on Friday, starting at 11 a.m. with Hope International; at 5 p.m. Wilber and company will face No. 11 Central Methodist. Closing out day three Dakota Wesleyan volleyball takes on No. 25 Rocky Mountain at 1 p.m..

ABOUT THE TIGERS

  • Tigers' volleyball enters the weekend matches sporting a 5-0 overall record and has yet to drop a set.
  • DWU is averaging 13.80 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .258
  • Jadie DeLange and Mariah Gloe are one and two on the team with hitting percentages of .303 and .263 respectively
  • Ady Dwight leads the Tigers in kills per set, averaging 3.00
  • As a team, DWU has been on par with 2.33 blocks per set, led by Dwight with a mean of 1.40 on 21 total blocks
  • The Tigers have kept opponents hitting percentage to .072 while only allowing 9.33 kills per set by the opposition

  • Hope International is serving the ball at a .928 percentage with 2.2 aces per set

  • No. 11 Central Methodist enters the three-day tournament 4-0 while only dropping two sets thus far
  • The Eagles will take on Texas Wesleyan before the Tigers on Friday
  • CMU is averaging 14 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .256
  • Leading the Eagles attack is Grace Unnvik with 38 kills and hitting with a .355 percent
  • Putting up 2.64 blocks per set as a team, Unnvik leads the Eagles with 1.36 blocks per set
  • Second-year head coach Coleman Lee is at the helm for Central Methodist

 

ABOUT THE BATTLIN' BEARS

  • No. 25 Rocky Mountain volleyball begins the tournament with an overall record of 4-2
  • Last weekend, the Battlin' Bears dropped a three-set match to GPAC foe the University of Jamestown in Dickinson, N.D.
  • Rocky Mountain is putting down 12.25 kills per set with a hitting percentage of .174
  • Weiying Wu leads the Battlin' Bears with 2.62 kills per set and a .269 hitting percentage
  • Rocky Mountain averages 3.58 blocks per set with 330 total blocks through six games
