Mitchell, S.D. – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the 2021 GPAC Volleyball All-Conference Team selections this morning. The Tigers volleyball squad posted five players to the All-Conference list, led by Sophomore middle blocker, Ady Dwight who was tabbed with first-team honors.
Others tabbed to the GPAC All-Conference receiving second-team accolades are setter Madeline Else and defensive specialist Hanna Reiff. DWU Volleyball also recorded two honorable mentions with outside hitter Mariah Gloe and right-side Mackenzie Miller.
All-Conference First Team
Langford, S.D. native Dwight led the Tigers during the regular season and the GPAC tournament, racking up a total of 442 kills with a .315 hitting percentage. On the defensive side Dwight, stacked 121 blocks into her score sheet through her 32 matches and 112 sets played.
All-Conference Second Team
Else a junior setter from Holstein, Iowa, was the staple in center court for Coach Wilber during the 2021 regular season and GPAC tournament play. Else also stuffed her score sheet with 1,242 total assists, 40 service aces, and 311 digs through her 32 matches played. Else also recorded 37 kills and 42 total blocks on the season.
Defensive specialist Hanna Reiff rounds out the second-team selections for the Tigers and Coach Wilber. Reiff did not miss a match all season, playing in 32 for the Tigers. Reiff recorded 656 total digs this season with 15 service aces and 67 assists. The Chester, S.D. native is averaging 5.86 digs per set.
Honorable Mention
The junior; outside hitter from Watertown, S.D., Mariah Gloe, was tabbed as an honorable mention after racking up 293 kills, 32 service aces, 353 digs, and 94 total blocks. Gloe also tallied 12 assists in her 112 sets played.
Right-side junior, Mackenzie Miller, a Mitchell, S.D. native, rounds out the 2021 All-Conference selections with an honorable mention for the Tigers. During Millers' 32 matches played she notched 289 kills, 80 digs, and 76 total blocks.
The Tigers enter a part of the season DWU Volleyball hasn't seen since 1990; as they enter the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship Opening Round. Dakota Wesleyan has never hosted an opening round of the NAIA National Tournament for women's volleyball. The Tigers will kick off this exciting new adventure at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 20 in Mitchell, S.D. at The Worlds Only Corn Palace.
