Women's Wrestling Has Three Placers at Beaver Bash Open

MINOT, N.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Women's Wrestling competed at the Beaver Bash Open in the MSU Dome in North Dakota, hosted by the NCAA Division II Minot State Beavers.

Five competitors represented the Tigers at the tournament, with three individuals placing in their respective weight classes against a solid field of NAIA and NCAA DII competition. Cerys Gardner, at the 110-pound weight class, took fourth place in her bracket following a fall in her opening match in 2:44, and an even quicker pin (1:23) in her match on the backside of the bracket to secure her placement contest. At 138, Tiara Faehnrich continued her impressive start to her collegiate career with a pinfall in 1:54 in her opening match. She would drop two matches but win her placement match against Adrian Steidler of Bismarck State in a 2:37 fall to claim fifth place.

Kaitlin Gay would claim sixth place in the 207-pound weight class with a recorded win on the day. To round out the lineup, Olivia Smith picked up a win after a 1:26 pinfall against Rachel Berger of Sioux Falls in the 160-pound weight class, while Kaylei Hinck made her debut for Dakota Wesleyan at 117.
