2024-25: The Women’s Wrestling team had a standout 2024–25 season as Coach Lynch led the program to new heights. The team’s hard work and progress culminated in two All-Conference selections, one NWCA Scholar All-American, and a national qualifier in Keera Lacock, who represented the program on the national stage. The season marked a significant step forward for the program, highlighting both athletic and academic achievement under Coach Lynch’s leadership
John Lynch comes to DWU after holding assistant coaching positions at Northwestern College in 2014-15 and in 2016-17, and a stint as assistant coach at Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa, during the 2020-21 season. Lynch coached eight national qualifiers during his time with the Red Raiders and one state qualifier while at Washington High School.
Lynch has worked as a physical therapist at two Iowa facilities since 2018, Careage Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare and Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Beyond his coaching position at NWC and his physical therapy positions, Lynch has taught several 500-level courses at Briar Cliff University. In 2020 he became a clinical instructor at Cherokee Regional Medical Center, leading and directing DPT students.
Outside of his coaching responsibilities, Lynch has continued to stay connected to student-athletes through several research interests, including coach-athlete relationships and their effects on motivation and performance, and relationship building in academic settings.
Lynch is no stranger to the wrestling world as he was a three-time Kansas state qualifier and runner-up while in high school. In college he was an NJCAA National Qualifier, and a two-time NAIA National Qualifier at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA.
Resides in Mitchell with his Wife (Amanda) and three daughters (Diana, Scarlet, and Willow). Along with their two dogs Calypso and Odysseus. Off the mat Lynch spends his time with his family, reading, and playing board games.
