SIOUX CITY, Iowa — RV Dakota Wesleyan Men's Wrestling headed south to take on the Briar Cliff Chargers in a GPAC dual meet.
The dual meet opened at the 149-pound weight class, which saw Landon Flogstad square off against Trystan Berry of BCU. Flogstad was able to fend off pin attempts, but a dominant showing from BCU's graduate student opened the dual with a win for the Chargers. The Tigers quickly bounced back as Gavin Braun fought from behind to claim a gritty 5-3 decision win at the 157-pound weight class before Lessears of Briar Cliff got the better of Jackson Remmers in a 12-6 decision. The next four matches of the dual saw Dakota Wesleyan pick up big wins, with Teagan Foreman kicking off the run at 174 with an 11-1 major decision over Jackson Balmer. Jagger Tyler followed it up at the 184-pound weight class with an impressive technical fall in the second period. Jaxon Quail had a thrilling victory at 197 following multiple flipped takedown attempts on his opponent, which turned into back points early in the match, before he caught Bethel of BCU at the edge of the mat towards the end of the third period, recording a pinfall for DWU. Cole Hennings rounded out the four-bout run with a methodical 9-0 win at heavyweight before the dual headed back to the top of the lineup. At 125, Will Farren was able to prevent a pinfall, but Leverknight got the better of him with an 18-1 technical fall. Kipp Cordes got the Tigers right back on track, however, with a 14-8 decision win, before Ian Metz rounded out the full lineup at 141 with a dominant 15-2 major decision win, sealing a 29-12 dual meet victory for the Tigers.
