VALLEY CITY, N.D. — RV Dakota Wesleyan Volleyball kicked off its 2025 campaign at the VCSU Triangular, where they split contests against RV Valley City State and Dickinson State to begin the year with a 1-1 record.

The Tigers began their day of competition against the Valley City State Vikings, who, like Dakota Wesleyan, received votes in the NAIA's preseason top 25. Offensively, the Tigers would be led by Karly VanDerWerff and Evy Knoblock, who both contributed 11 kills each throughout the match. The Vikings kept pace with the Tigers as the first set continued and would send the frame into extra points, but DWU would finish the set on top with a final score of 30-28. Dakota Wesleyan would have an easier time in sets two and three, completing the sweep with scores of 25-19 and 25-22. Elizabeth Tyler would lead the Tigers with 17 digs, and Kayleigh Hybertson would tally 31 assists through three sets.

DWU would carry its momentum from the morning sweep into the first set against Dickinson State, taking a 1-0 match lead by a score of 25-22. Knoblock would continue to be the team's offensive leader with 12 kills while Lily Ranschau pitched in with eight of her own. The Blue Hawks would find momentum quickly after, however, and keep a steady lead throughout the second set to tie the match up at one set apiece. The Tigers would continue to battle, but the Blue Hawks would continue their steady scoring run to stay one step ahead of DWU, claiming set three by a score of 23-25 and closing the match with a 20-25 scoreline in the fourth set. Tyler would once again lead the team with 26 digs and Hybertson would contribute nine of her own digs while tallying 36 assists in four sets.

The Dakota Wesleyan Volleyball team will compete in the Siouxland Invitational beginning Friday, August 22nd, against 11th-ranked McPherson College at 11:30 AM. See the full 2025 schedule here.
